Heineken Ireland – Let the festivities commence
What fun we had, spreading the Christmas joy with an abundance of Heineken bottles, all in the name of work. A pallet and a half of beer, three large fridges, and a helping hand from Model Solutions, and the Knowles Christmas Tree was finished. We love advertising!
Luckily for Ireland, the tree was not solely Jonathan Knowles', but the latest Irish advertising campaign for McCann Erickson. In the same campaign shot by Jonathan, was a party in a loft apartment, again also focusing on the Heineken as the festive Christmas tree.
The agency was McCann Erickson Dublin, and the art director was Ray Swan.

17:59. It’s Guinness Time
Jonathan Knowles has just finished shooting a great new drinks campaign for Diageo under the strap line of “17:59. It’s Guinness Time”.
Setting the scene with a perfect dusk cityscape, Jonathan teamed this with a surging Guinness pint, dark at the base, progressing to a moody cloudy effect within the Guinness head. Great attention was paid to pick up the minute bubbles and give it a very distinctive texture, whilst mimicking the pattern and tonal values of the sky.
The art director was Sarah Clift at Arc Worldwide.

Luxure Magazine
14 pages was the space allocated to Jonathan’s first feature for Luxure; a magazine you will come across regularly if you charter jets and yachts.
Rejuvenating skin care products was the theme, something close to the heart of most private jet travellers. Each product was shot with its key ingredient, and treated in a monochromatic way. They vary from La Prairie, containing real caviar to Dior containing Château d’Yquem. The stylist was Alexia Somerville.

Deep Spring
Creative team Amy Cattanach and Charlotte Henry from Ogilvy in Auckland decided that it was only somebody on the other side of the World who would be able get the result they wanted for their Deep Spring campaign. The ads show people ‘bobbing’ for apples and blackcurrants all shot from underneath the water. Jonathan’s expertise with liquid, combined with people, created the look that they really wanted.
Most of the models said it was one of the strangest castings they had ever been to. The difference in look between a face shot normally, and one shot from underneath in a tank of water was incredible, let alone being able to keep their eyes open underwater at the same time as being able to bite on fruit!

Guinness
Tropical Africa is currently adorned with Jonathan’s new Guinness outdoor campaign for the bottled product, Foreign Extra Smooth. Each of the three executions, shot both on location and in the studio, follows a theme based on the ‘Greatness’ of the elements which create the drink, and each features a tornado within the goblet itself.
The ads were commissioned by Saatchi and Saatchi Cape Town. Art direction was by Larissa Elliott and the creative directors were Anton Crone and Tim Hearn.

Warburtons
Jonathan and the model makers had to use their loaves to produce Britain made out of real bread for Warburtons. We also got to work with a world-class laser system, to produce the eye-catching rays of sun.
The art director behind this concept and two other supporting ads was Vicki Munro at Brahm.

Cream Ibiza Paul Van Dyk
Cream is preparing for another momentous summer in Ibiza with a world beating line up of parties with Paul van Dyk returning to Amnesia as exclusive resident. The Global DJ & producer has mixed this year’s Cream Ibiza album released by New State Music.
Jonathan shot the album sleeve image, and poster advertising which will run for the club on the island, featuring the iconic Cream logo within shafts of light. The design was by David Bowden and James White at Zip.

Budweiser
To Support Fallon’s True Dedication campaign, Jonathan has just shot a drinks campaign of 18 stunning close-up images for Budweiser. Working closely with the art director Mark Saward at Euro RSCG KLP, they produced shots which focus on different aspects of the bottle, and reinforce the quality and purity of the product.

Prazska Vodka
Here at Jonathan Knowles studio, we always like a new challenge. We were very pleased to get the drinks brief through from McCann-Erickson Prague for the newly designed bottle for Prazska vodka.
The headline translates as ‘Gentle sharpness to the edge’, which the photography reflects using sleek natural flowing liquid mixed with sharp, defined splashes.
The creative team was Michal Kotulek and Jan Ridl.
